Starting on July 1, 2023, Iowa Workforce Development formally became responsible for providing workforce services to a new 42-county region, the Iowa Plains Local Workforce Development Area. Northwest Iowa
The Northwest Iowa Workforce Development Board provides visionary leadership and oversight to workforce development in the Northwest Iowa Local Workforce Development Area consisting of Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, and Sioux counties. CEO members are elected officials from the ten county area, while LWDB members are leaders from business, labor, economic development, government, public assistance, education, youth and community based organizations.
