Starting on July 1, 2023, Iowa Workforce Development formally became responsible for providing workforce services to a new 42-county region, the Iowa Plains Local Workforce Development Area. Southwest Iowa
The Southwest Iowa Workforce Development Board provides visionary leadership and oversight to workforce development in the Southwest Iowa Local Workforce Development Area consisting of Adair, Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Montgomery, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union counties. CEO members are elected officials from the eight county area, while LWDB members are leaders from business, labor, economic development, government, public assistance, education, youth and community based organizations.
